Ms. Beatrice Moore was born August 21, 1940 in Hughes, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Albert Moore and Ruth Jordan in Hughes, Arkansas. They say “it takes a village to raise a child” and that was very true of our dear mother who was raised by her loving grandparents, Buff and Annie VanWinkle. Our loving mother moved to Benton Harbor, MI at a young age, where she enjoyed her community, friends, and church. Beatrice was a faithful member of Community Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishops Nathaniel Wells Sr. and Nathaniel Wells Jr. She would attend the Church of God in Christ annual convocation where she studied God’s word. She worked as a dedicated childcare provider and housekeeper for many years, in addition to raising 5 children. Beatrice enjoyed cooking, sewing, and watching her favorite shows “The Price is Right” and “The Young and the Restless”. Our mother loved her children and would later move to Battle Creek and Grand Rapids, MI to serve as a support system for her daughters. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, grandparents and loving sisters and brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Frederick (Debra) McConnell of White Lake, MI, Franklin (Debra) McConnell of South Bend, IN, Althea McConnell, Patricia McConnell and Lisa McConnell of Grand Rapids, MI, nine grandchildren Derrick, Frederick Jr. (Constance), Jessica, Dedrick, Danielle, Madeline, Jatorri, Cameron and Nigella, adoring great and great great grandchildren, sisters Mamie Lee Manning, Ruth Jordan, Doretha Moore, Mary Welch, brothers Elder Albert Moore, Henry Moore, Sam Brice, Donald Jordan, Vernell Jordan and Willie Burton a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
