Lillian Lucille Rodgers-Suttles
Lillian Lucille Suttles departed this life and went home to be with her savior on Tuesday June 2, 2020. Lillian Lucille Stamps was born on August 27, 1922 to her parents Alice Lewis Stamps and Clarence Stamps, in Memphis Tennessee. To this union were born five children Priscilla, Earnest Ronald, Narcisse and Lillian, with all siblings proceeding her in death. She was baptized at the tender age of 13 in a local river in Turels Arkansas. Lillian was united in Holy matrimony to Frank Garner Rodgers in 1937 until his death in 1987. To this union eight children were born Frank Jr, Bernice, Curtis, Earnestine, Shirley, Robert, Larry and Linda. Lillian found love again and was married to Dan Allen Suttles on January 21, 1989 and they remained together until his passing on July 2, 2003.
Lillian was a devoted and Loving mother and wife who Loved the Lord with all her heart. Lillian was an extraordinarily strong woman who set a great example for her family and friends. She was a true Proverbs: 31woman, who believed in keeping her home and children clean. Although she did not have much schooling, she ran her kitchen and household masterfully. She taught her children about the Lord, even walking with them to the old Pilgrim Rest Baptist church in the early 1950’s. Lillian attended Bethel Pentecostal church (for many years) serving in the Kitchen, and was well known for her barbeque dinners, and sweet potato pie sold at the “Hut” (Located on Sherman/ Eastern). Lillian loved to travel, visiting places such as Mexico, California, Florida, and she enjoyed many cruises to the Caribbean, and wherever her heart desired.
Lillian ran a childcare center out of her home for many years, taking care of each child as though they were her own. Some of her former daycare children call her grandma until this day. The Love that she showed in life mirrored the Love that she has for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One of her favorite songs to listen to, I Can Only Imagine”, which her youngest daughter Linda would play for her, gave her great joy, and peace of mind and spirit. Lillian loved and enjoyed spending time with her, children and grandchildren and longed to be with them until the end. She resided at Samaritas Senior Living facility until her passing on June 2, 2020.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband(s) Frank G. Rodgers, Dan A. Suttles, her children Bernice Rodgers, Shirley Rodgers, and Larry Rodgers. Lillian leaves to cherish her memories her remaining children, Frank Rodgers Jr (Theresa), Curtis Rodgers, Earnestine Long, Robert E. Rodgers (Kathy) and Linda J. Hitchcock.
