Adam Hundley Young (affectionately called “A”) was born on October 4, 1976 in Washington DC to Janice Naomi Hundley and William Collin Young Jr.
“A” was an exceptional little boy– as a cub scout he achieved the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest level of Cub Scouting. In high school, he excelled academically and in sports. He was the Captain of the football team and a member of the National Honor Society.
While he attended Morehouse College, he met the love of his life at Spelman College - Tiffany Allyn Letts. They married in 2006 and were blessed with two children, Asa Hayden (12) and Gavin Elijah (8).
Adam went on to complete his academic studies at Grand Valley State University – graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology. This was an accomplishment that he was very proud of.
Adam was a friend, confidant, and “counselor” to most people whom he met. He had the ability to connect with individuals on deep levels, which resulted in long therapeutic conversations. He was well versed in all things historical, sociological and psychological. He could entertain an intellectual conversation on just about every subject and typically knew the latest breaking news from just about every network.
He enjoyed movies of all genres, but especially took pleasure in taking his sons to any new Marvel movie premiere. He believed in starting this tradition early - as he took his oldest son to see Iron Man as an infant.
Adam was a family man, he was often seen taking his children to school, attending every sports event – he was a present force. He took pride in being a great friend and having great friends – relationships that have spanned decades. This evidenced by the plethora of friends from E. Brooke Lee Middle School, John F. Kennedy High School, and Morehouse college (to name a few).
A lover of travel, over the years he was able to enjoy trips with his family locally and abroad – preferably anywhere with an ocean view.
Adam was an avid football fan, who enjoyed sideline coaching his sons (Asa Young and Gavin Young) football teams. Forever a Washington Redskins fan, “A” is wearing his burgundy and gold up in Heaven.
Over the last several years, although challenged by his chronic illness – he continued to have a positive outlook and chose to take his setbacks in stride. Focusing on those things that gave him joy,
Adam is preceded in death by his father (William Young Jr.), maternal grandparents (Doris and Toussaint Hundley) and paternal grandparents (Doris and William Young Sr.)
Adam is survived by his wife - Tiffany Letts, sons – Asa and Gavin Young, brother – William Young III (Colleen), and mother – Janice Gonzalez (Charles). He also leaves behind a large extended family and a host of friends who are like family.
