Sandy and Billy, it is a hurtful feeling to lose your mom as most of us know. My heartfelt condolences. I’ve know Sarah most of my life as she and my mom ( Bessie Mathews) were lifelong friends and ran the American Legion post together with the other vets and vet wives. As a child these women threw THE BEST Halloween and Christmas and Easter parties for us kids! She will be missed. May she Rest In God’s Peace.

Mrs. Brooks will be greatly, greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. I am ever so grateful that I had the honor of knowing her. She was a great loving and kind person. Her commitment to our Veterans, her community, to all she served is to not only be recognized but it demonstrates a heart full of love, caring and unselfish acts of genuine kindness. Oh what an inspiration and patriotic model she was. Mrs. Brooks will be cherished and loved in our hearts. I am honored that she called me a "friend," but more important she allowed me into her life to be a "friend."

Sandy and family, your loss is ours and may God grant you comfort, joy, peace during this time and the days to come.

Without a doubt the sweetest, thoughtful and caring woman who made everyone she came in contact with feel special, especially veterans. She made me proud to be not only a veteran, but also her grandson. I love you and will miss you nana.

Sarah is one of the sweetest and genuinely loving individuals I have met and had the joy of knowing. Her six decade commitment to the veterans at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans as a volunteer doesn't begin to account for the hole in our collective heart she leaves. Her generous spirit and infectious smile are already missed. Yet her faithful witness to her LORD assures us of her reward in His eternal presence because of His grace. Precious in His sight, is the death of His saints. We mourn. She sings with eternal joy.
