Obituary

Anthony Scott Earvin March 3, 1969 – December 22, 2020

Anthony Scott Earvin, was born on March 3, 1969 to Willie (Joe) Earvin Jr and Patrice Ann (Spearman) Draper. Anthony attended Grand Rapids Public Schools and upon graduation attended GRCC/ATC where he became certified as a HVAC technician. He worked for several Heating & Cooling companies before he transitioned to driving the “Big Rigs”. He was passionate about cars, and driving trucks came with ease. He really enjoyed his job working for American Auto Auction where he hauled cars throughout the Midwest for over six years. In addition, Anthony loved sports, cooking, and his Family; especially his “squirt squirt” whom he adored dearly. He spent a lot of time cooking and eating exotic foods from turtle, duck, frog legs, to his infamous soul food dishes. He was known for telling you “just try it, it tastes like chicken”. He enjoyed family dinners especially the ones up North during the holidays where he could fish, enjoy the outdoors and lighting fireworks etc. So many people were drawn to Anthony because of his magnetic personality, and his ability to disarm you with his infectious smile. His distinct laugh was undeniable and he always left you with a smile and a few words of wisdom. He had such a carefree and loving spirit, and his devotion to his family was immeasurable. Anthony, affectionately known as “Ant-Man” passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie (Joe) Earvin, his maternal grandparents Joseph & Carmen Spearman and paternal grandparents Willie & JohnElla Earvin and two aunts, Sherry Jo Spearman and Helen Earvin. Leaving to cherish his precious memories are his lovely wife of 21 years; Cassandra, six children Eric (Kami) Powell, Erica (Marco) Taylor, Anthony Jr., Afrika, Ayanna and Cameron Earvin. Six grandchildren; Breonna Lott, Eric Jr, Dynver Powell; Elijah, Isaiah Taylor; Nalonie Williams. His mother Patrice (Decarto) Draper; three brothers, Terrance (Maria), Brian Earvin; Steven (Amina) Jackson and one sister Danielle Jackson. Mother-in-Law Belindell Williams, sister-in-Law Elaine (Emery) Figures, two brothers-in-law; Lewis (Carla) Hunter and Eugene Williams. Ten aunts; Debra (Allen) Wadlington; Stacey (Eddie) Charlton, Michelle Beard, Lisa Love, Mary Ann Earvin, Ernestine Baker, Brenda (Robert) Hamlett, Madelyn (Jeffery) Lasane, Terry Fallen, Savannah (George) Wilson.
