David Lee Johnson was born July 25th 1971 in Grand Rapids Michigan to David Williams and Carol Johnson-[Rainey]. David was a man of many talents and skills. In his life he may have ran into his share trouble and struggle but turned out alright and never lost his loyal and loving heart. David, affectionately known as Benny attended Ottawa whale's high school. During his time there he enjoyed playing basketball, writing rhymes, watching karate movies, national geographics and he was quite the jokester. Benny's pride and joy was loving his family friends and he had great Passion for his music. Known by many aliases, most notably "Paypa Thyn", " I'll Gates", "Ivan Willkillum "; Benny will always be respected as one of Grand Rapids most talented rappers. Through everything Benny was definitely always still a Momma's boy.

On Sunday may 23rd 2021 David Lee Johnson (Benny) received his summons to make his transition. Benny leaves behind his mother Carol Johnson-Rainey (Billy Rainey), children Julia Jackson, David Johnson Jr., and Anquenette Johnson. Siblings; Anquenette Johnson, Misha Harris, Karecce Johnson; Grand kids Jakeem, Jayshawn, Cyniah, Zarian, Zameea, Zy'recce, Cymir, Dominique, Davion Davionna, Avion Avionna, Milynn, Kymier, Kevari, Leighton. Uncles; Edward Williams(dec), Jerrie Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Danny Johnson. Nieces, Vonesha, Faysha, Kimoria, Kelly. Nephews, Marek, and a host of cousins and friends.
We thank God for his continued mercy and grace and wish to acknowledge with our deepest appreciation, your love, prayers, cards, flowers, gifts, assistance and caring thoughts and words. May God's blessings keep you all in his care.
